This is what we really need to use for encouraging Arabic kids to read for fun and learning at the same time! I was lucky at my school at ACS abu Dhabi that right after I got back from Bahrain, I arranged through our literacy coach (Ann ) for me to observe a colleague doing GR in English for 1st grade class. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed being in that class! for 40 min , those kids were busy reading, writing in the reading journals, playing a game of long and short vowel sounds...and more... really I learned a lot and hoping to start adapting the same in my class some time in the near future... Thanks to people like you who are opening our eyes and minds to new professional ways of teaching which I think is a wonderful tool to make Arab students in general read more and more!!
